Conclusion

During these days, I had build good relationship with the community. During the days in charity, I had met great people with selfless spirit. They inspire me a lot and motivate me to contribute myself to the development of my research. Also, I had collect my findings via different sources in different areas of homeless problem, from charity practice to street intervention. The findings are comprehensive and give me different angles of creativity.

The interventions I had conducted around my subject area is genuine, iterative, and methodological. The secondary research sources are books and journals from reknowned scociologists. Also, my interventions had convey positivity to the community and to the problem. They allow my stakeholders to open up a dialogue about their life and their expectations. And they had share their views to the problem with me genuinely.

I used to stay in my own ‘comfort zone’ in a foreign country. But after this research practice in the last 7 months, I can cross-over between cultures much more easily. I had conducted a comprehensive research around different topics to bring a wide vision of the problem; my bravery to have direct and real experience with homelessness; and actively participate in a homeless charity founded by a former homeless person.

However, The research are still going on and there are still some areas and topics waiting to explore. The mechanisms of homelessness which I discover over 5 months are not enough to articulate a accurate picture of homelessness problem, the continuing iterative testing, interviews, volunteering practices is still necessary. In terms of my learning edges. Usually, like the problem itself, homeless people are very uncertain about where they are going. For example, once I had made an appointment with a homeless person to do an interview and I promise to help him to find the shelter. But he did not turn up. And also, a lot of uncertainty take place when I doing volunteering as well. Usually, there are unwelcome figures had come and harass with abusive languages from time to time. And the charity is facing with convoluted management problems in its nature. There are many conflict elements in homelessness. These predicaments actually inform me the high complexity of the issue. It won’t stop here, an ongoing investigation to homelessness is a necessity.
